Case Study: URHowTo.com
The staff at URHowTo.com came to us early last year looking for our help with their site structure, look and feel, and SEO efforts. The website was a particular challenge because the site architecture was not SEO friendly. Most of the URL's were dynamic, there was little web page relevance between their how to guide categories and poor on page optimization.
What We Did:
- After our initial site review we were able to work up an action plan that would allow us to "modernize" their website and make it SEO friendly.
- We did a complete rewrite of their websites code. Every page on the website is now XHTML and CSS compliant.
- The site architecture needed a lot of work as well. Once we were finished, the URL structure was friendly to both human visitors and search engines.
- On page SEO factors were also looked at and we chose several high traffic keywords for each and every web page. Traffic doubled simply from better targeting more relevant keywords.
- Our primary concern after the site redesign was off-page linking. Our custom "natural" linking campaign allowed the website to go from only a few dozen links to several thousand. We had to pay special attention to the linking campaign because the website was on an extremely limited budget.
Our Results:
We started working with URHowTo.com on June 1st 2007. In just a few short months we have made some impressive achievements with the site and the level of traffic it gets. As of 9-24-07 we have been able to:
- Increase traffic to the site by 1189%
- Increase the time on site by 16.61%
- Increase page views by 1136%
- Increase Search Engine Traffic from 2% to 93.62%
- Increase the number of keywords bringing in traffic to just over 1,300!
- Increased the traffic from 30 visits a month to over 45,000 a year and growing!
Going Forward:
We are still currently working on behalf of URHowTo.com to increase their web traffic and assist with content. The site is on schedule to double their increased site traffic in the next couple of months. We are also continually working on a natural link-building campaign for the website and should have well over 25,000 additional links by the end of the year.
